Doodle for Google

Julia got her siblings to enter the Doodle for Google contest this year!  Max had a great entry but his imagination went a little too far and his octopus exudes ink...thus the black mess in the corner.  Looks like a mistake...owell.  Ellie's could be a little darker/brighter.  Anyway, they had a great time doing it and will keep an eye on the extraordinary entries from around the nation!

Arctic Animals

Max's 1st grade class exhibited their arctic animals and reports for parents and for older classes today! They were all so proud of their hard work. It was cool to see what they made out of recycled trash!

Here is Max in desperate need of a haircut.  With his arctic hare.

Some of his friends with their arctic animals too

A close-up of the famous hare.  I think he needs glasses like Max.

We need a lesson on there v. their :)

Scientist of the Week

It was Max's turn to be Scientist of the Week for his class this week!  He was SO excited to show the class how to make GAK, or slime.

Dad worked from home that day so he came in to help us show the class!  Max loved having him there.

Valentines Day 2013

Ellie handed out these mustache Valentine's treats to her 4th grade class!

Max, with help from his sisters, handed out these superhero pops

Julia handed out a few of these Mad Lib Valentine's to her friends.  We rolled up mad libs we had around the house with a newspaper comic strip, tied it up with yarn from the craft room and attached these cute little sayings we found online already done.

Great grandma, "G.G." gave out goodies but the notes were the best part!

Max's 1st grade party...playing a Minute to Win it game here

Our little buddy's monster card box...a little beat up

Likely Ellie's last year to exchange Valentine's with her class (moving on to middle school next year) and she enjoyed every minute of it.

100th Day of School

Max celebrated his 100th day of 1st grade today!  His teacher, and all of the 1st grade teachers, dressed like 100 year olds and they had lots of fun activities!  Only four more months until SUMMER FUN (and much, much, warmer weather!).

Max's First Lost Tooth

Our little Max finally lost his first tooth at the age of 6 years, 5 months old!  A record for our kiddos.  Thing is...he really did lose it while brushing his teeth before school this morning.  Guess it fell down the drain. He'll have to leave a little note for the tooth fairy.  Love this kid.

8.11.2012

Max turned 6 and wanted a party with friends.  It was during the London 2012 Summer Olympics and he loves Mario so we planned a Mario and Sonic at the Olympics birthday party!  Teams were divided into Team Mario and Team Sonic.  Each party guest received a t-shirt and button pin designating their team.  The events were:
  • Bowser's Bean Bag Toss (cornhole)
  • Blaze's 40 yd Dash
  • Luigi's Javelin Throw (using water shooters from $ Store, red/yellow/blue pinwheels with names attached for distance markers))
  • Amy's Hula Hoop Game (hold hands with team members and get hoop around every member of team without unlocking hands)
  • Peach's Potato Sack Race
  • Mario's Marshmallow Relay (toothpicks, tubs of flour)
  • Daisy's Discus Toss (frisbees and pinwheel markers from Javelin Throw)
  • Hurdle Jump (using water noodles attached to ground with wodden skewers)
  • Sonic's Soccer Shoot Out (goal and soccer balls)
  • Yoshi's Egg Race (spoons, eggs)
  • Toad's Standing Long Jump
The guests enjoyed a picnic of snacks under the shade of the trees:

  • Twizzlers wrapped in patriotic ribbon
  • Strawberries dipped in white chocolate then dipped in blue sanding sugar
  • Watermelon stars and blueberries
  • Red solo cups filled with pretzels and cheese Goldfish
  • Ice cream cones filled with popcorn (Olympic torches)
  • Marshmallows on sticks dipped in red chocolate with sprinkles
  • Luigi’s Italian Ice cups
  • Mario fruit snacks
Upon completion of the events we had a little awards ceremony where each participant received an award and a stick on mustache.  Favors were the personalized t-shirts and chocolate wii remotes which said, "Wii thank you for coming to Max's party."  We ended the party with a blue silly string fight.  Max and his friends/family had a BLAST!

Max's Last Fall Soccer Game

Max's last soccer game was today and it was FREEZING.  He did such a great job this season and was the 2nd best goal scorer on the team!  He had so much fun playing and we all enjoyed watching him every Saturday morning.
